Meet Andrew

Andrew Warren was elected as State Attorney of Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, leading an office of about 130 prosecutors. Since taking office in January 2017, he has focused on being tough on violent criminals and implementing innovative reforms and diversion programs to reduce recidivism, emphasizing treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation for low-level offenders. In August 2022, Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended him for speaking out against total abortion bans and transgender discrimination, but a federal court ruled the suspension politically motivated, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the district court's authority to reinstate him. Recognized as a national leader in criminal justice policy, Warren received the American Bar Association's Minister of Justice Award in 2023.

Previously, Warren was a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, earning multiple accolades, including the 2013 Attorney General Award. Born in Gainesville, Florida, he studied at Brandeis University and Columbia University, returning to Florida in 2013. He lives in Tampa with his wife and two daughters and has been active in several criminal justice and community organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay, the Tampa Hispanic Bar Foundation, Starting Right Now, and Men of Vision. Additionally, he has coached youth sports, including the Tampa Bay Little League 11u All-Star softball team that won the 2023 U.S. Southeast Regional Championship.
